Wistful Wild - Pikmin 2 (High Quality + Oscilloscope)

Internal name: last.bms BPM: 102 Music by Hajime Wakai, music recreated in Logic Pro X, visuals made in Corrscope. Download: https://drive.google.com/drive/folder... My Carrd: https://wafflesmogumogu.carrd.co/ The theme for the Wistful Wild. Similarly to The Final Trial's theme from the first game, this theme has a constant droning instrument, though sitting more discretely in the back (Press Wah Wah), behind two synthetic acoustic guitars. This drone forewarns players of the dangerous enemies present within this final area, while parts of its accompaniment play a somber melody for the search for Louie. The music will activate extra instruments depending on the game state: Main: 0:00 Working: 1:34 Carrying treasure: 3:08 Enemy near: 4:42 Battling enemy: 6:16 Near burgeoning spiderwort: 7:50 Sunset: 9:24 Instruments used: Press Wah Wah: Kurzweil - K2500 FARM: GUITARS Cee Tuar: Kurzweil - K2500R Fluid Guitar: Kurzweil - K2500 FARM: GUITARS Rich Guitar: Kurzweil - K2500 FARM: GUITARS Jethro's Flute: Kurzweil - K2500 FARM: BRASS Waterphone: Kurzweil - K2500R Contrabass: Roland - Sound Canvas SC-88 Acoustic Piano: Kurzweil - K2500R Walking Bass: Kurzweil - K2500 FARM: BASS Hi-Hat: Kurzweil - K2500R Accordion: Roland - Sound Canvas SC-88 Celesta: Roland - Sound Canvas SC-88 Pluxichord: Kurzweil - K2500R Timpani: Roland - Sound Canvas SC-88 Industry Set: Kurzweil - K2500R AIRVOICE ONE: KORG - 01/w Instrument ramblings (Feel free to ignore): The droning instrument underneath the music, "Press Wah Wah", is a distortion guitar, with a velocity-sensitive wah-wah filter. The sound was sampled at around velocity 78 for Pikmin 2. Cee Tuar is one of the K2500's acoustic guitar sounds, but its been mangled to approximate the sound of a sitar. Although not demonstrated here, it's also touch sensitive on the K2500, and is one of my personal favorite patches to mess with on the synthesizer. Fluid Guitar and Rich Guitar are two slightly different guitar sounds, one being softer and the other more coarse. The note data for Fluid Guitar is slightly off by a few milliseconds, so it audibly lags behind Rich Guitar here; the purpose of this is to widen the stereophonic range of the guitar pattern through use of the Haas Effect, creating a fuller sound. This effect is useful in-game since all samples are strictly mono in Pikmin 2. The impact of the effect lost slightly here as the full HD instruments have unique stereo information, but it still sounds great being so full! Jethro's Flute is K2500 patch that's a small reference to Jethro Tull, a band that frequently features flute. It's essentially the default flute sample, but it has a loud chiff added to the attack. The Waterphone simply plays two notes every two measures, except for the intro. And this is true for every loop. The Contrabass track uniquely has both pitch-bend and volume automation controlling it, to mimic the expressiveness of the live instrument. Kazumi Totaka is the one that loves utilizing the unique functions of his games' music engines, as seen in his cave music, Submerged Castle, and a lot of Luigi's Mansion... Hajime Wakai more often displays simplicity, so a dynamically programmed instrument like this is a real treat! Acoustic Piano appears again for this song, but now its purely bass, instead of the higher samples. It's joined by Walking Bass, an approximation of a standing acoustic bass with a guitar sample, and a repeating Hi-Hat. The treasure mix unique adds two harmonious instruments, an Accordion and Celesta! Both also respect each instrument's common playing styles, with the accordion specifically utilizing grace notes. The enemy mix instrument is "Pluxichord", from the K2500. This is in fact the same instrument used for the drone in The Forest Navel's theme, but played super high! The combat mix adds in a Timpani, and some percussion elements from the K2500's Industry Set. They're a bit hard to hear, but there are two toms mixed in there. The spiderwort mix adds a unique pad sound from one of the sample libraries that came included with the AKAI CD3000: InVision Lightware 1 library. The sound is called "AIRVOICE ONE", and while I could have simply used this, it actually has some further origins: the sound was recorded off a KORG 01/w... the patch "AirVox One" is the closest match, which I used here.
