Making a proper GMAT study plan is probably the most important step that you need to take before you start investing serious time into GMAT prep. If you make mistakes at this step, you will end up spinning your wheels and spending months of effort that lead to no improvement in your score. Besides the wasted, time, $ and effort, this is bad for your motivation, mental health and long term career. A good GMAT study plan must be informed by (1) where you stand today, (2) what your end goals are, and (3) what your constraints are Then, you need to understand the emotional and logical considerations you must factor in when sequencing your study plan. You can prepare for the GMAT sections in any order you like but the order that is right for you may not be right for someone else. It comes down to your temperament, your capabilities and your prior experience with the GMAT, if any, among other factors. So you must pause and introspect before deciding how to go about preparing for the GMAT in a way that gets you to your best GMAT score in a single attempt. In the first 10 days of my GMAT prep, I was more or less just gathering information about the new format of the GMAT and where I stand at the moment. Now, I have the inputs required to formulate a GMAT study plan which will hopefully get me to the 99 percentile score which I am aspiring for. In this video, I will talk you through key parts of the thought process that I recommend you use when designing your study plan.
