This short walk in England's Lake District national park brings in 2 hidden gems. Built in the 17th centuary, Slater Bridge in an ancient and listed structure connecting Little Langdale with the nearby slate mines, a key industry in Cumbria's past. This bridge spans the River Brathay as it runs from Little Langdale Tarn to Elterwater. After crossing Slater Bridge we journey a short distance to the nearby slate mines containing several caves and tunnels including the stunning Cathedral Chamber with its magnificent central pillar and cathedral window. After exploring these sites from land and air we travel across the ford bridge back to the Three Shires pub before a brief trip to Ambleside for refreshments. 0:00 Intro 0:45 To Slater Bridge 2:28 Slater Bridge from the air 3:14 Slater Bridge from the Ground 4:08 To the mines 6:33 Cathedral Cave 10:05 The surrounding structures and area 12:10 Into the crater 14:09 Up the ridge 15:25 Heading back down 16:05 The ford 17:15 Off to the pub Route map: https://explore.osmaps.com/route/2130...
