In this video, I thought it was important that I document my childrens' grandmother's chow chow recipe before it's lost forever. It's a cabbage and green tomato relish popular in the south. I made no changes to her recipe except to reduce it to a batch size better for my household. The original recipe is at the end of the video. This is a tangy and sweet relish with a bit of a pepper kick to it. Enjoy. 1 head of cabbage 4 onions 4 green tomatoes 4 bell peppers 5 jalapenos 1/3 cup salt 1 and 2/3 cups sugar 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon mustard seed 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon ground mustard 1 teaspoon pickling spice 1 teaspoon ground ginger 1 teaspoon tumeric 2 teaspoons celery seed 1 quart of vinegar
