ASMR/Relaxation - The History of the 1903 Romanov Masquerade Ball (Russian history/culture)

This soft spoken history ASMR podcast explores an extraordinarily opulent masquerade ball that took place at the Winter Palace, in St Petersburg, in February 1903. Together, we'll dive into this glittering occasion - which was the last grand ball hosted by Tsar Nicholas II and his wife, Alexandra, before the Russian revolutions - and take a look at the magnificent settings, the luxurious costumes, the elaborate entertainments and the guests who attended this dazzling social event. We'll also discover some of the wonderfully-talented artists whose creative work helped to make the ball a success - including the ballet dancer Anna Pavlova, the jeweller Agaton Fabergé, and the costume designer Sergey Solomko. Note: there's a bit of a personal ramble at the beginning of the video - apologies for this! The talk starts properly at around 05.48. My sincerest thanks to Olga Shirnina - several of her beautifully-colourised photographs of the 1903 ball feature on the accompanying slideshow to this podcast. You can find more of Olga's work on her blog, or her facebook page: https://klimbim2014.wordpress.com   / klimbim.art   Many thanks also to Matt Key, for allowing me to use his fabulous photograph of the Russian Chapel in Darmstadt - you can see more of Matt's photography on instagram @k3ybo : https://www.instagram.com/k3ybo/?hl=en If you want more information about the 1917 Russian revolution, then The French Whisperer has made an excellent ASMR podcast about it:    • ASMR - The Russian Revolution of 1917   If you're inspired to visit the State Hermitage Museum in St Petersburg, then you can find out more about their magnificent collection here: https://www.hermitagemuseum.org My grateful thanks to my friend Az, for her kind help with the pronunciation of Russian names :) #SoundsCurious is a youtube channel dedicated to audio adventures... as someone who experiences ASMR (and also uses audio to help me sleep), my aim with these videos is to provide you with a deeply relaxing experience that can help you to sleep, or feel rested and refreshed - as well as triggering some ASMR tingles in those who exeprience them.
