Hey guys, today I’m going to remove and reinstall this freewheel without specific tool. This freewheel came from the Peugeot UO-8 in the 1970’s, I need to remove it to replace the broken wheel spokes. The lock ring has two holes, in order to remove the freewheel, you need to turn this lock ring clockwise. Figure which Allen key to fit, insert it into the hole and use the hammer to knock it clockwise. When you remove the freewheel, the ball bearings will spread out around the wheel hub, so you make sure you put a tray or a bucket underneath to catch them. To reinstall the freewheel, put a small amount of grease around the hub in order to hold the bearings in place. Make sure you put 47 ball bearings, not 48 or 46, it has to be 47, otherwise your wheel will come off eventually. Remember to turn the lock ring counterclockwise.
