http://inktalks.com Starting a business is hard enough but Srikanth Bolla, despite his visual-handicap, was intent on setting up a business that was socially just, helped the disabled and low income individuals, and kept investors happy. Listen to him talk about his journey and the obstacles he had to overcome, while iterating that procrastination is the biggest obstacle to progress. Talk recorded at ‘INK2018: Billionaires of Moments’ in Hyderabad. ABOUT SRIKANTH BOLLA: Founder of Bollant Industries, Bolla is the first international blind student in brain and cognitive science and business at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology). He fought for his academic right, being denied a choice to pursue science at senior secondary level, and then denied admission to coaching institutes for Indian Institute of Technology. Bolla started a Braille printing press in the Samanvai Center for Children with Multiple Disabilities in Hyderabad, that provides easy access to educational material to disabled students. In 2012, he started Bollant Industries, that manufactures Areca-based products and provides employment to several hundred people with disabilities, with funding from Ratan Tata. Bollant Industries has shown exceptional growth averaging 20% a month since inception, with 2016-17 fiscal year revenues over 25 Crores (USD 4 million). In April 2017, Bolla was named by Forbes magazine in its list of 30 under 30 across all of Asia, one of only three Indians in that list.
