Some believe an end can only be achieved by an outright Ukrainian victory that would force Russian troops back to pre-February 2022 borders. Others argue that this outcome is a fantasy and Zelensky will eventually have to negotiate with Putin and trade land for peace. Many believe that the conflict could be frozen for many years without any clear conclusion. PANEL INCLUDES Dr Olesya Khromeychuk is a historian and writer. She is the author of The Death of a Soldier Told by His Sister and is currently the Director of the Ukrainian Institute London. Orlando Figes is an award-winning historian and author of The Story of Russia. Max Hastings is a military historian, journalist and broadcaster. Appearing remotely, Anne Applebaum is a Pulitzer Prize-winning historian whose latest book is Twilight of Democracy: The Failure of Politics and the Parting of Friends. Clive Myrie is the BBC’s Chief News Correspondent. Last year he led the BBC’s coverage of the war in Ukraine, reporting live on the day of Russia’s invasion.
