Foreigner's First Filipino Fiesta in Batangas City! Tere's hometown is celebrating it's 50th Foundation Day with a series of month long activities. We have been traveling around Batangas to go diving and exploring the islands and beaches but this will be my first fiesta celebration here. We are lucky to be invited in the city's foundation day parade and Sublian Festival- the highlight of the festivities. Subli is a traditional folk dance of Batangas. It was my first time to witness a grand Philippine fiesta like this and I was blown away. From kids to adults, Batanguenos are not only warm and friendly but amazing dancers and have a deep sense of culture and tradition. Another first for me was tasting the Batangas "Sumang Haba", a sticky rice delicacy served during special occasions. There are so many things I need to try and explore here. Our heartfelt thanks to Hon. Mayor Beverly Rose Dimacuha and to the wonderful people of the City Mayor's Office!
