Gore Mountain: Old Gondola Station Tour

I didn't record any lifts today, but I did film this video in the Straightbrook Lodge which is the repurposed old gondola station. The VonRoll gondola closed in 1999 and the building was repurposed as a lodge in 2017. I really like how they preserved the lift parts so I walk around the station and explain how it all works in this video. When built in 1968, this gondola was state of the art. Once modern, automated detachable systems became common place, gondolas with manual terminals became obsolete and I believe are completely extinct at North American ski resorts. Several amusement parks still run these old VonRoll systems if you must ride one.
