Changing My Baby’s Insulin Pump While She Sleeps

The first time Addie slept through a dexcom change it was pretty amazing. I felt like this was the best way to do this as she was in no pain and we didn’t have to fight. I just took care of it while she slept, and she was none the wiser. I didn’t think she would also sleep through her insulin pump changes. I knew the omnipod insertion hurt a bit more than the dexcom insertion, so I figured we’d have to do all these changes while awake and that struggle was not gonna be fun. It hasn’t been. Now, she sleeps through the pump changes as well! Addie was diagnosed at 14 months old. Got a dexcom at 15 months old. Got an insulin pump at 2 and a half. She will be 3 in 3 months! As always I am amazed and so proud to be her Mom. Her strength and resilience is admired by so many. I’m truly blessed to watch her grow and learn.
