In 1831, the same year he joined the brigade, young Louie accompanied a group of seasoned trappers into the Uintah Basin. It was here that he first encountered Antoine Robidoux, a prominent Southwest fur trader who would later establish trading posts in the region. Throughout his life, Louie Simonds played many roles – a fur trapper, a western scout, and a pioneer who witnessed the dramatic changes brought by westward expansion. This mountain men documentary not only traces his footsteps across the American West but also delves into the broader context of the fur trade, the lives of mountain men, and the legends of the Old West.
