What Did Dumbledore Mean by "It Has to Be You" in Fantastic Beasts 2: The Crimes of Grindelwald?

In the teaser trailer for Fantastic Beasts 2: The Crimes of Grindelwald, Dumbledore said to Newt Scamander, "It has to be you." But what exactly does this mean? Why is Newt the only person who can face Grindelwald, especially over Dumbledore who knows Gellert so well. In this video, we'll explore many layered reasons for this that includes the Elder Wand, the Obscurus, and especially the possibility of the dragon that was hinted at on the new screenplay cover. Answering why “It has to be you” is not simple. To me, this quote gets to the heart of the series. Because it’s essentially asking what’s so special about Newt? Why is this particular man at this particular time being called upon to save the world from this particular villain? It’s the essence of what makes Newt the hero of our story, and not anyone else. And so, before I get into my detailed explanation of why it has to be Newt, I’ll cut to the chase and say, because JK Rowling says so. Which means, she is the author; she has designed it that way. And as we know she’s an incredibly talented storyteller, the reasons will be well-woven into every layer of the film. But, essentially, Grindelwald is Newt’s shadow, just as Voldemort was Harry’s. “Shadow” here is a literary term meaning the dark side of a character that they repress which can be shown as the antagonist. It’s the actions of the protagonist in overcoming his own inner demons to defeat the antagonist that forms the heart of the story. For now, I see 4 key characteristics that highlight Grindelwald as Newt’s shadow. I expect there will be more to come, and perhaps you can spot some more as well. 1. Grindelwald is charismatic, drawing people in to his plans, like he did with Albus. Newt, however – He’s not a people person. People don’t like him. “Not really.” 2. However, with the people Newt does get to know, he is deeply caring, while Grindelwald is manipulative. 3. In magic, Grindelwald is skilled while Newt not as much. In an interview, Rowling says that the set designers first presented her with plans for inside Newt’s case which were much too elaborate. She had them simplify it, make it a bit more rustic, because Newt’s magic was not at that high a level. 4. Both Newt and Grindelwald are fascinated with beasts who are capable of massive destruction. The lure for Grindelwald, however, is to use them. Newt’s passion is to save them. ... (turn on CC for more) SUBSCRIBE for more!    / spsipal   MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD: More to come!
