Salesforce Security Apex Sharing on Standard Objects Lost on Owner Change

I was teaching a class today: Sharing and Visibility Architect, and was explaining Apex (Programatic) Sharing and role that Custom Sharing Reasons play. When I explained that you cannot create custom Sharing Reasons on Standard Objects, one of my students asked "If you use Manual as your sharing reason, wont it get deleted on Ownership change? I realized that I was not sure, so I decided to find out and record the results one way or another. And here it is. It turns out that Yes, even Apex Sharing is deleted on Owner Change. This is because the only Share Reason you can insert is 'Manual", and those ARE deleted. I tried writing custom Team Members, but even those were deleted. Turns out, you may need to have a Trigger (or Record Triggered Flow) to handle the Owner Change and reapply any custom Share records. I hope that this helps someone, someday.
