Our attempt to camp in the desert of Dubai. We tried and was finally able to camp near fossil rock in UAE. We were not able to accomplish the various activities we had planned for this trip while visiting our families. We did make the most of it and be rest assured, this is not the final attempt to camp in the desert; we hope to return and experience much more of what the desert has to offer. In the United Arab Emirates, there are two sorts of camping trips: long-term and overnight. According to Dubai Municipality officials, long-term camping is controlled and requires permission (Link below), whereas outdoor enthusiasts are free to camp wherever they like. Wadi Shawka is located on the foothills of the Hajar Mountains, Wadi Shawka is 95km east of Dubai's city center, it's a great escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Another option is the Hajar Mountains, Hatta is 125Km from the city they will make you feel a long way from the city. These mountains are a dream come true for outdoor enthusiasts! While vehicle camping, you can enjoy mountain biking, trail running, hiking, or simply sit back and relax. We did have a good time while we were there even though we couldn't stay overnight.
