Ibn Arabi elucidates that God is similar to (tashbih) and incomparable with (tanzih) the whole cosmos (God is both tanzih and tashbih). It is different from what Muslim theologians and philosophers maintain. The two aspects, according to him, is expressed by the term “quran” which combines God’s tanzih and tashbih. This topic is interesting to be discussed further considering the fact that Ibn Arabi’s view of this issue suprasses the mainstream views of Islamic philosophy and Islamic theology (‘ilm al-kalam).
