Lake Skadar: The Fisherman

For centuries, Lake Skadar’s fish stocks have provided food and livelihoods to surrounding inhabitants. With the designation of the region as a protected area in 2005, increased regulations in support of sustainable fishing add a new dimension to the work of local fishermen. Here we spend a day with Ardian Broja, who earns his living by fishing in Lake Skadar. Broja explains the necessity of working with local organizations to protect the Lake Skadar ecosystem, while providing for himself and his family.
