Some listen to Bible teachers and preachers, live a good life, don’t sin, and have been baptized. Isn’t that enough to satisfy God and get them to heaven? From Scripture we will answer that question. Paul arrived in Ephesus and found some disciples of John. He assumed they were believers, so he asked them about their relationship with the Holy Spirit. Paul said what and who, making it clear he was speaking about an experience. Their response, “We have not so much as heard whether there is a Holy Spirit.” Paul then explained three things. It is possible to be baptized without accepting Jesus as Savior. Baptism is necessary after salvation, even if you have been baptized before. Being baptized with the Holy Spirit is a separate experience that comes after salvation.
