This video shows, how did Treaty of Lausanne change territory of the newly established Republic of Turkey after the Turkish War of Indepencdence. War was ignited by Turkish National Movement led by Mustava Kemal Pasha. Movement fought against foregin occupiers until July 1923, when Treaty of Lausanne was signed effectively replacing Treaty of Sèvres. Treaty of was signed on July 24, 1923 between Allied powers and Victorious Ankara Government, which on October 29, 1923 proclaimed Republic of Turkey. Sultanate was abolished, thus ending 623 years of Ottoman Rule. Capital was moved from Constantinopole (Istanbul) to Ankara. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk became the first President.
