Police received reports on July 12 that a large amount of the coins had been stolen from a warehouse in Weatherill Park in Sydney's west. Police believe that 64,000 of the coins, which are produced by the Australian Mint and stamped with images of the shows' characters, were stolen from the warehouse. The coins were bound for a depot in Brisbane, but a pallet of them were missing on arrival, the Australian Federal Police tipped off NSW Police. After extensive investigations, Strike Force Bandit executed a search warrant at a property in Sefton on Wednesday, July 31. "It was a bingo moment, when we came across the coins through the legitimate coin collector," he said. "If the show's producers decide to make an episode on this, that would be fine." Police said their investigations under Strike Force Bandit are continuing.
