Dried Baby Prawns Kismoor | Dried Galmo (Jawli)

Jawlyachi Kismoor is made of dried baby prawns, which is often referred to as galmbo (galmo) in Konkani. It’s a delight during the rainy season when fishing is temporarily suspended for the purpose of replenishing the fish in the sea. It’s got a lovely balance of flavour: saltiness from the dried prawns, tang from the Tamarind and oh-so-subtle sweetness from the coconut. It all blends together with fresh coriander and makes a delicious side dish with rice/chapatis and curries or sabzi :) Try this soon! Mog Asum ❤️ Let There Be Love Ingredients: 1 Cup dried baby prawns (galmbo/jawla), [I’ve used home washed and sun-dried ones, if you’re washing them, give them a quick rinse and toast them on high heat; they’ll need time] 2 Tablespoons Coconut Oil 1/2 inch piece of Ginger, finely chopped 3-4 Garlic cloves, finely chopped 2 Green Chillies, roughly chopped 1 large Onion, finely sliced Salt to taste 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon Kashmiri Chilli powder 2 Tablespoons Tamarind juice (can embers substituted with 4 or 5 Kokum rind) A pinch or two of Sugar #ExperienceSusegad Music Credits: Claudia by C Alvares from the Konkani movie ‘Nirmon’.
