UAL has released the official film of The Making of Grayson's Robes - an inside look at the drama behind the design that went into crafting Turner Prize-winner, Grayson Perry's 2019 UAL Chancellor robes. The film follows Grayson, as he pores over hundreds of eclectic designs submitted from UAL students, vying to top last year’s crowing graduation robes. Previously open only to fashion design students – this year’s competition saw applications from students studying all disciplines, across UAL’s six renowned Colleges. This year's winner is London College of Fashion MA Costume Design for Performance student, Rachele Terrinoni. Comprising of a custom-made petticoat, an 8-metred hand smock dress, and a Swarovski crystal encrusted coat, featuring 10 layers of silk dupion, overlaid by 10 metres of linen lining. The robes showcase dazzling oversized sleeves, each weighted by 5 layers of tulle and each emblazoned with Swarovski crystals, finished with its own hand-stitched ruff, spanning 8 metres of brightly coloured linen
