How to turn a dollar bill into a beautiful and magical-looking Flapping Butterfly that flaps when you pull its tail. As I mention in the intro, this model can also be folded from a rectangle of A4 or Letter-sized printer paper cut in half the long way. This model works best if you store it in your wallet flat (with the wings closed). It will also be handy to have it there to show people or give it as a gift or extra tip. This is the Flapping Dollar Butterfly long-form video tutorial. I made a 55-second YouTube short showing how to fold it here: • $1 Dollar Flapping Butterfly #shorts ... One unique attribute of this model is that the two wings touch at the top as it's flapping, just like real butterflies do! I experimented a lot to figure out how to get the wings to consistently fully close at the top, and the breakthrough was discovering that the key to fully closing wings is to actually push in on the tail prior to pulling it. The other major key is to make the reverse fold on the tail much smaller than the tail of the traditional flapping bird. Otherwise the wings won't close all the way. #origamibutterfly #AmazingOrigamiDollarFlappingButterfly #jeremyshaferorigami Here are some ways to support me in my work of designing and teaching new origami models. 1.
