Floriade Almere 2022 Recap [#10]

The Floriade Expo is an official world expo which is held every 10 years in the Netherlands. During the expo, The Netherlands want to show the world their agricultural and horticultural sectors. This edition, the theme was "Growing Green Cities". Multiple organizations and companies showed what we can do as country to make the world a more greener place, and I think they pulled it of quite well. Also countries from around the world were invited to decorate their countries pavillions. Many countries participated and some of the pavillions were really impressive. Unfortunately there was alot of criticism on the event before it even started as they went way over budget well before the opening date. Then the park was not ready when it opened and they attracted less visitor than expected, with as result less income and an even higher debt. After the event, the park will be dismantled, and the plots will be repurposed to a residential area. A large part of the infrastructure for the residental area has been put in place before the construction of the park, and will be kept in place and used for the residential area. This is off course not only money saving but also sustainable. I am looking forward to the next edition in 2032!
