The Taliban have taken full control of Afghanistan after four days of intense fighting against resistance forces in the province of Panjshir. Reports claim the Taliban teamed up with Al-Qaeda militants to invade the region with the insurgents declaring victory over the nation's final holdout. However, several opposition leaders have denied the claims, insisting they are lies. The militant group is understood to be in the process of forming a new government, one which the European Union, the United States and United Kingdom has repeatedly said they would not recognise. The intense fighting has forced families to flee the region but with Kabul Airport closed, residents are now attempting to cross land borders by foot.
