Make Warren Miller's 1920s Army Style Pack

After making the "summer" sleeping pad to go with my linen sleeping bag, I re-evaluated my pack and how it will work with this arrangement. I pulled out my copy of Warren Miller's 1921 Sportsman's Workshop and was struck by his "Army Style" pack, which is patterned after the Army's 1910 Infantry Pack and thought that might be a better way of carriage for the system. I saw a couple of changes that would better suit my backpacking style and needs, and then thought of another way that I might be able to use it. But we won't really know until we make it, will we?
