Time: around 14:00~15:00 Nearest metro: Seolleung Station Seonjeongneung is the name of Seolleung and Jeongneung combined, and it refers to the royal tombs of King Seongjong (the 9th king of the Joseon Dynasty), Queen Jeonghyeon (the second wife of King Seongjong) and King Jungjong (a son of the two). Seonjeongneung was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2009, enhancing its status as historic remains. It is easily accessible as it is situated close to Seolleung Station, Subway Line 2. It makes an ideal place for the public to enjoy a stroll. Seolleung, the tomb of King Seongjong (reigned 1469-1494) was built in 1495; subsequently, the tomb of Queen Jeonghyeon (1462-1530) was built on the east side of Seolleung in 1530. Jeongneung, which is the tomb of King Jungjong (the 11th king of the Joseon Dynasty, reigned 1506-1544), was built in 1544, and was moved from its original site in Wondang, Goyang-gun, Gyeonggi-do, to this current location in 1562 by Queen Munjeong (the second wife of King Jungjong, 1501-1565). Seonjeongneung is designated as Historic Site No. 199 as well as being a UNESCO World Heritage site.
