Teaching Kids to Sew- Tips & Ideas

In this video I share with you some tips and ideas that I am implementing as I teach my 3 yr old son to use the sewing machine he got for Christmas. My son's sewing machine is a Kenmore 11206 (sometimes called Mini Ultra). It is the same sewing machine as the popular Janome Hello Kitty machine {affiliate link: http://amzn.to/VwLBFm} without the Janome name. But after much research I discovered that Janome makes the newer Kenmore machines. So the machine we use is a Janome with the Kenmore name on it, basically. Either of these machines would be fine and be the same thing. I DO NOT recommend teaching young children how to sew just based on their age. Know your child and ONLY teach them to use a sewing machine when you think they are ready. I consider a sewing machine a power tool and if you don't know what you are doing you can injure yourself pretty bad if your hands come in contact with the needle as it's moving. Please be careful and ALWAYS supervise any child when they are sewing on a machine. My son is very careful and meticulous in what he does so, as a parent I felt he was ready to begin learning the basics. I hope this video will give you some ideas and tips that you will be able to incorporate in your sewing sessions with kids or event adult beginners.
