Calculation of Earthworks using Section Method steps: 1. Establish cross section lines vertical and horizontal, tip the closer spacing the more accurate result it will give 2. Get the average height of finish and actual elevation, then calculate the difference. 3. Compute section area by multiplying height difference (see above) 4. Follow same procedures on the next station, e.g. Sta. 0+010 5. Calculate the average area of Sta 0+000 and Sta 0+010, then multiply with section interval to get the volume. 6. The resulting volume could be positive (fill) or negative (cut), whichever will prevail.
