Dean of The Polis Institute, Professor Christophe Rico, delivered a lecture on the development of painting in Ancient Greek vases. The lecture, held at Polis' campus in Jerusalem, was free and open to the public. The language of the lecture is Ancient Greek. Overview: Between 500 to 350 BC, in a small neighborhood in Athens, we find one of the most incredible concentration of artists that mankind has ever known. Greek potters developed a very sophisticated technique of colors, and Greek painters reached a very refined art of portrait and perspective. Athenian ceramics soon were exported throughout the Mediterranean and its technique was imitated elsewhere. In this lecture, we wish to revive a wonderful adventure in the history of art.
