Tide Pools - Intertidal Zone on the Oregon Coast

Tides are caused by the gravitational pull of the moon and to some extant the sun. This tidal force pulls the water out, causing what is defined as a low tide. While this happens, isolated pools of water remain in the now exposed rocks, reefs and sand. Low tide exposes sea creatures like starfish/sea stars, anemones, sea squirts, chitons, limpets, crabs, mussels, fish, seaweed and other things like octopus. The beauty of these marine creatures, now exposed, can be observed and enjoyed while also exploited by seagulls and other predators. All of these photos and videos are from the central Oregon Coast.
