I've spent the last 2 weeks researching how the best animators on YouTube make their maps and I've found some answers, I hope they help others. Popular Illustration software: Paid ➤ Photoshop/ Adobe Illustrator Free ➤ Gimp/ Paint/ Inkscape Specific MAP Making Software ➤ Inkarnate/ Wonderdraft/ Azgaar's fantasy map generator Popular animation software: Paid ➤ After effects/Geolayers/ Adobe animate/ Apple motion Free ➤ Blender/ Unreal engine Kings and Generals map source ➤ https://aecharters.co.uk/ Also uses Wonderdraft (Thanks to a helpful comment) I've always wanted to know how popular animators made their video but was stuck at the first hurdle of understanding the maps they used. This is just what I think these creators use, some of them may not be correct i.e. Invicta but the others I'm fairly sure are. At around 2:05 When I said 'they are similar, they are quite different'.
