Muzaffarabad is the capital and largest city of Azad Kashmir, and the 60th largest in Pakistan. The city is located in Muzaffarabad District, near the confluence of the Jhelum and Neelum rivers. The district of Neelum is the northernmost of 10 districts located within the Pakistani-administered territory of Azad Kashmir. Taking up the larger part of the Neelam Valley, the district has a population of around 191,000 people. It was among the worst-hit areas of Pakistan during the 2005 Kashmir earthquake. The Neelum Valley is one of the most attractive and beautiful place in Azad Kashmir. The Neelum valley is located at a distance of 101 km from Muzaffarabad at north. it takes 3.5 - 7 hours drive for travelling from muzaffarabad to neelum valley.
