I'm a bit iffy on the Character Designs, but the animation here was great. You want to know how it all went downhill after? A-1 though it was a good idea to drop the series to work on other crap like SAO, and decided to let Aniplex give the show to Cloverworks, which was established the same year as the TV Animation. I feel bad for Cloverworks. They are forever known for creating the mediocre Animation even though they were just starting.
