The city has a rich history of mining, railways, and power generation. The air compressor on the grounds was used to supply air to the drills in the mines. Rossland had a sophisticated power line infrastructure for the time that supplied power to the compressor. There are various other generators, compressors, trucks, aerial tramway lines, and other mining equipment to see. Nikola Tesla was in the area doing research, and some of his designs are present in the electric generators built by Westinghouse that were used by the compressor.
