Tennis Forehand: Hit Amazing Forehands In 5 Steps

Former top 100 ATP Player and USTA High-Performance Coach, Jeff Salzenstein shares five steps that are going to help you hit amazing tennis forehands. He does a detailed breakdown of each forehand component so you know exactly what to focus on the court. Below, you’ll find a brief summary of Jeff’s 5- step formula to hit amazing forehands. Grip And Ready Position Use the semi western grip for the forehand. Start with your racquet slightly up and angled, so it makes your first move easier and more compact. First Move Separate both arms early, so you do not get jammed. Have your off arm pulling across the body to create proper spacing, and shoulder turn. Backswing Get your elbow away from the body on your first move. Focus on relaxation for your wrist and hitting arm, as this will help you find the “lagging” position easier prior to contact. Contact Point Keeping your arm completely straight at contact is a very advanced concept. Have your arm natural and relaxed, so it’ll be slightly bent when you hit the ball. Finish Finish your forehand over the shoulder, and “catch the racquet” at the end of the swing. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Want to improve your tennis anywhere and on the go?
