With economic disparities and differing educational, social, or cultural backgrounds, current and future first-generation lawyers often face a new set of challenges and struggles, often without a blueprint for a path to success. During the program we’ll provide a framework to thrive as a first-generation lawyer and discuss: • Navigating law school and preparing for the bar exam • Why support systems matter and how to build yours • Techniques to detect and overcome imposter syndrome • Navigating office politics and unwritten rules • The importance of building relationships with peers and more senior lawyers early in your career • Creating a more equitable path for the next generation of first-generation legal professionals • How firms and institutions can assist in supporting first-generation lawyer Note: The content of this program does not meet requirements for continuing legal education (CLE) accreditation.
