#costube #historicalcostuming #sewing #18thcentury Welcome to the outer gown video! Part 2 will be up not too long from now as I don't want to drag this out for 2 months. It was just too much to fit in one video. The outer gown for my 18th-century gown from the Costume Close-up book is a dream come true for me. This is a combination of a sack-back gown and a polonaise gown. The outer gown is pulled up in polonaise style to show off more of this lovely petticoat underneath. I love everything about it from the ruched trim to the pleated ruffle and the lace and the bows on the stomacher. I used cotton instead of the silk that was originally used. This, like most of my projects, is done with fabrics found at thrift stores and repurposed. The playlist for this project is linked below!
