Woodturning - You Won't Guess What I'm Doing!

I left it to dry as I do with most of my wood but unfortunately some massive cracks opened up both at the top and bottom. As I haven't turned much apple wood I wanted to start turning it and see if I could remove the cracks and make the replacement parts. I used some spalted beech to drill out the cracks and make the piece stand out. The piece has been sanded to 10000 grit and finished with sanding sealer and wood wax.
