Does the Greek support the deity of Christ? A few weeks ago we looked at John 1:1 and considered the deity of Christ there on the basis of the predicate nominative and the use of the article. But the Greek also provides additional support for the deity of Christ, and so in this video, we'll look at the Granville Sharp rule and how it helps us to see that Jesus is called God by both Paul and Peter. Here's a quick glossary of some of the words I used in this video that might not be clear if you're new to this channel! construction: the combination of words into a phrase, clause or sentence substantives: a noun or something that stands in the place of a noun textural variation: variations found between manuscripts containing the same text participles: a verbal noun adjectival participle: a participle functioning as a modifier of another substantive or as a substantive in its own right nominative: the nominative case is used to indicate or refer to the subject of the sentence.
