Transit Camper Conversion Build Intro [Off-Grid Vanlife Project] Selecting The Right Van | 001 Welcome to the first video in our Ford Transit Camper Conversion build series. In this series, we will take a humble ford transit van, formerly used as a minibus, and turn it into our very own campervan. A tiny home on wheels we can tour around the UK and potentially Europe in at some point in the future, post-lockdown. This project is completely different to our usual bike and car projects, but just as exciting for us as we will get the opportunity to learn lots of new skills and be creative in a completely different way with a fit-out. We're not intending to live in this transit camper long term so it only really needs to be comfortable for a week of travelling, preferably off-grid meaning we're not tied to the hookup on camping and caravan sites. It's a Ford Transit Mid wheelbase, mid high roof which should be just enough for me and the wife to share comfortably on our holidays. Its quite a high mileage van at 170k miles and it's pretty tired looking inside and out, but there's nothing fundamentally wrong with it that we can't change easily. I'm hoping to complete this DIY camper van build on a tight budget, but with a quality finish. This will mean taking my time and getting the job right myself rather than going straight to an off the shelf camper conversion kit. It also gives me the opportunity to get the van fitted out in any way we like, that suits us. I'm secretly intending to make the bed part easily removable so I can also use the van as a bike hauler for my various ebay purchases. But don't tell the wife about that part just yet..
