For this episode we’re just twenty miles north of Williamsburg and not far from the York River to experience Stonehouse Golf Club a Mike Strantz design that’s finding new life after renovations and new ownership. Opened in 1996 Stonehouse was named "Best New Upscale Public Course in the Nation" by Golf Digest and continued to receive national recognition through 2005 but by 2017 Stonehouse was a shell of its former self having lost greens, bare tees and fairways overgrown with weeds and was closed later that year. With Stonehouse, Strantz envisioned creating a mountain-style course that disturbed nature as little as possible and enormous putting greens perched on the edges of natural cliff formations with constant challenges for any level player.
