Hip Management in Cerebral Palsy | Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS) To obtain a CPD certificate for attending this lecture, Click here: https://orthopaedicacademy.co.uk/tuto... Nicola Walsh Hip management in cerebral palsy is the topic of the presentation by Nikki Walsh in a mentor group session. Cerebral palsy is a non-progressive brain lesion causing spasticity and contractions that result in bony torsional deformity and joint instability. The hip joint in cerebral palsy is often normal at birth and develops deformities due to abnormal muscle forces over time, leading to hip instability and dislocation. The goals of a surveillance program for cerebral palsy hips are to identify children at risk of hip displacement and offer early intervention to prevent hip dislocations and osteoarthritis. The Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS) predicts the likelihood of hip displacement in cerebral palsy, and clinical examination and AP pelvis are necessary for surveillance programs. www.OrthopaedicAcademy.co.uk www.OrthopaedicAcademy.net This teaching video is specifically helpful for candidates preparing for the following Orthopaedic Exams : FRCS , European Board (FEBOT) , SICOT Diploma and Arabic Boards #orthopedicshortcase #orthopedicrehab #orthopedicspecialist #orthopedicsurgeons #orthopedicdoctor #orthopedictreatment #orthopaedics #orthopaedicprinciples #orthopaedichospital #orthopaedicsurgery #orthopaedicsurgeons #medicaleducation #medicalstudent #medicalstudents #medicalstudentmotivationalvideo #medicalstudentpromotionupdate #physiotherapy #physiotherapist #nursepractitioner #nursepractitioners #course #courses #orthopedicphysiotherapy #orthopedicshortcase #orthopedicrehab #orthopedicspecialist #orthopedicsurgeons #orthopedicdoctor #orthopedictreatment #chiropractic #chiropractor #osteopath #learnmedicine #frcs #frcsorth #orthopreneurs #radiology #cerebralpalsy
