APPLYING FOR FRENCH NATIONALITY for Children Born in France to Foreign Parents

Applying for French nationality for our children, born in France to foreign parents, was, suprisingly, one of the easier administration processes we've been through since moving here in 2003. Being a British couple, following the uncertainty of Brexit, we started to look at the options for obtaining French Nationality for our British children who were born and have been brought up in France. With the knowledge that an application for nationality for us as two adults would take many months, we started looking at options for our children. We were particularly concerned about maintaining their ability to move freely within the EU, should this not be agreed within Brexit negotiations. Armed with a declaration, we could apply for an Identity Card (une carte d'identité) and a French Passport (un passeport français). This video shares our experience of - Understanding the process of obtaining nationality - Which documents to send - What happens as you work through the process - How long it took - What we learnt Share your experiences with us in the comments section - was your application dealt with quickly and efficiently or was it a French bureaucratic nightmare? **List of Documents Relevant to Dept 66 (Les Pyrénées Orientales) as of October 2019** • Copy of French birth certificate (less than 3 months) • Photocopy of some kind of Photo ID for the child • Photocopy of front and back of “carte de sejour” of parents • Photocopy of “acte de mariage” Officially translated if not in French or livret de famille • In the case of divorce the judgement showing who has parental control • All documents showing the minor resides in France on the day of declaration • Documents proving the child has lived in France continuously for the last 5 years • A recent photo • Stamped addressed envelope (20g letter) 0:00 Intro 1:44 Who Qualifies? 2:24 The Process 3:20 Documents Required 5:14 Waiting for a "Convocation" 5:42 Day of Declaration 8:17 Learnings 10:00 Summary and close ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ 😉😉 other videos in the series which might interest you 😉😉 ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ ❤ French House ground-floor Renovation start to finish:    • French house renovation all by oursel...
