Both of these echos include updated cameras that allow you to use Amazons new feature called people detection. People detection can trigger routines when someone is in the room or if no people are detected. Other than the updated cameras and a processor improvement on the Echo Show 8, pretty much everything else is the same. These are both solid devices if you are in the market for an Echo Show.
