Brief: Tamil Nadu EV Policy

#TamilNadu is India’s largest #automotive #manufacturing hub. Over 15 OEMs which include #BMW, #Hyundai, #Mahindra and Mahindra etc. produce the bulk of their #vehicles around #Chennai. Tamil Nadu also has the largest proportion of #urban residents and is the second largest state economy, contributing over 8% to the national GDP. This highlights the state’s massive potential to become an (#ElectricVehicle) #EV hub, both towards manufacturing and #investment. The Tamil Nadu Electric Vehicle Policy thus aims to maintain the state’s automotive #leadership, especially considering new and innovative #technology. In addition to boosting manufacturing, building components and #charging infrastructure, it also incentivises #research and development, #capacitybuilding, and #sustainable practices for holistic development of the ecosystem.
