This is a carpet I have been cleaning for about ten years and it always cleans well. Today I decided to try the Astro turf pad as I thought the bristles would help to dig into the texture of the carpet and indeed this seemed to work very well. I also decided to check using a digital thermometer and it was interesting to see that when running at 300 rpm it is possible to heat the carpet up 20 degrees even though the solution is at room temperature. There is no danger to the carpet if you are doing this as long as there is moisture present. Increasing the temperature by slowing down will increase the cleaning effectiveness as higher temperatures have been shown to increase cleaning power. The highest temperature I read was 92 degrees and that is just warm to the touch and remember a normal temperature for a human is about 98 degrees so there is no danger to the carpet at this rate and I expect the increase in cleaning power although helpful is likely minimal in most cases but anything can help.
