Finally, a somewhat normal new Touhou fangame! 東方雷秘儀 (Touhou Raihigi) ～ Strike in the Holy Apex is a Touhou fangame made by Kurenai (‪@KurenaiTheScarletBullgon‬ ), with its first demo being released today. From what I see the story is mainly based off Greek mythology (probably Heracles/Hercules), with the protag going on a hero's journey. The special mechanics in this game is the Brave Gauge and the subsequent Brave and Bravest Releases, which functions like Shinmyoumaru's Ability Card and Len'en's Flash Bombs respectively, for a short bullet clear. Been looking forward to this game since Kurenai first announced it, and I'm liking what I see so far. The UI is clean and modern, yet retains the feel of the 2010s Touhou games. It also doesn't have the slight off-ness I feel from fangames made using Unity. The bullet density is a bit thick for Easy mode, and you see my silly death on stage 1, and some enemies are tanks, but I suppose you want to incentivize using the Brave Release mechanics somehow. Also liking the novel theme, don't think I've seen Greek mythology as the central theme. Or at least, I hope it is, I'm just going off what I can remember. As a furry degenerate, I did raise an eyebrow at one of Miyachi's spellcard names, but I'll just leave it at that. I dearly hope Kurenai can see this game to its full release, no matter how long it takes.
