BURNING is a hindi short-film produced by Sarvamangala. It was premiered as an official selection to Indian Panorama at the 49th IFFI Goa. The short film traveled to 40 plus international and regional film festivals since 2018. Synopsis 'Burning' is a conversation between two young mothers brought together by strange and cruel social realities, at a godforsaken, funeral ghat in Varanasi. Facing myriad forms of patriarchal violence, they build an instant bonding and understanding towards each other while trying to strike a bizarre deal they were pushed to negotiate. The film is about how they meet and what they talk about in that short span of time. What we try to capture is how these two young hapless women, subjugated to myriad forms of emotional violence from patriarchy, share in brief sentences their plight and build an instant bond and understand each other like a long-known friends and how that kinship pains them even more.
