There's miles to go before you sleep | Kamla Bhasin | TEDxHansrajCollege

With zeal and zest, the Zephyr makes its way to claim dawn's forethought and dusk's glory. With heated courage and unbridled confidence abound, personal and societal chaos die a silent death. With wisdom and youthful genesis, the mind, body and soul triumph forever. Such thoughts rule the psyche, story and steps of Social Scientist and Activist Kamla Bhasin; who took to streets when the nation demanded so and embraced international human rights when the world body politic ignited her doings. She's a survivor of storms and challenger of the highest lot. An inspiring aura who claims that individual vigor and care for humanity will alone guarantee world peace, she has set herself on the path of changing the societal landscape. A social scientist by training, Kamla Bhasin has been actively engaged with issues related to gender, development, peace, identity politics, militarization, human rights, and democracy since 1970. She worked at United Nation's FAO for 27 years and is now Advisor at Sangat a feminist network. Her main work is at the South Asian level, and has included capacity building of South Asian and other young activists and networking amongst civil society organizations in South Asia. She has written numerous books on issues of gender, patriarchy, masculinity and others, as well as many songs and slogans for the women's movement, books for children, and posters and banners for various people’s movements. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
